Hi Lowell,

You just made my day!!! First, the Morgan Hill event was one of the many earthquakes that caused the Calistoga Geyser to change its usual schedule. Something worthy of precursory notes.

The 9/94 quake was preceded by a dream by yours truly 3 days in advance. In the dream I saw two slabs of a cement sidewalk, with the usual seam between the two slabs. I was on one side and a co-worker at that time was standing on the other. I saw a bulls eye break one of the sidewalk pieces and coming out of this were two cracks running out of the top and bottom. I said to the woman, "looks like the Gorda plate."

Three days later, the workers in my building were shaken by this quake and I didn't get to feel it because I was driving to work. Go figure, huh? When I got to work my co-worker was standing there with her mouth hanging open and saying she couldn't believe it.

The Mammoth event has some memory cells working on that one as well. An insider rumor from someone up at Mammoth who is in the know told me that the quake measured 5.9999. But the people in the green machine didn't want it listed as a 6.0, no matter what. As you see now, its listed as a 5.6. Don remembers this one also, as it woke him up, and he was at home in his own bed in Hollister at the time.

So my little gray cells are getting very excited because of my forecasts for the Mendocino Triple Junction and Mammoth that just expired and my forecasted Parkfield quake. Am I wrong about Parkfield and could it end up being north of Portola Valley or general environs? Only the big guy knows. Frankly Lowell, I'd love it to end up being in Parkfield. Can you imagine the seismologists who have worked on that project for so many years being aced out by a nutty blond up in Petaluma who'll say she heard it coming?

As usual, Don's sitting next to me and as usual Don is shaking his head. We went for a drive today and took in the hills and valleys with many outcroppings on our way to a tiny hamlet called Tomales, CA. Its all of two blocks long and is circa 1886. A great place to go and relax. We had our favorites, Don a beer and me a Bloody Mary and we sat outdoors in the garden of the William Tell House and bathed ourselves in sunlight. A little walk around the two blocks, checking out what's offered was fun. Of course when we go out looking, we check absolutely everything, in case anyone wants to know. We went into the U.S. Hotel and the lady hotel keeper was going out to lunch. She told us to go ahead and take a look around on our own. So we did. It was marvelous. All quaintly decorated with period furnishings, large old windows that opened onto a balcony and original hanging lighting fixtures. It was as clean as could be as well. Including the calico cat that was asleep on one of the overstuffed chairs in the lobby. We have yet to find out how much it costs to stay there. I doubt either one of us can afford one of those rooms. I would also like to say, Don's driving is improving, or seems to be. The way out there was a lot more stressful than the return trip.

We went to Mecca again yesterday and thought for once we might actually take a look at the town of Hopland and see if we could get a bite to eat. That was at 8PM. Well, no luck. The family diner was just closing and the bed and breakfast with diningroom though very quaint and marvelous to view, provided us a rare opportunity. Absolutely no one who worked there could be found.
That too was a circa late 1800's, but the inside has fared much better than the exterior. The library was magnificient with over 1000 books, including a library ladder than went around in one area.

Don and I have taken in a lot of the scenery of Sonoma County and whatever lies therein. If we've been there, we know just about everything there is worthy of knowing. Which by the way included knowing the William Tell House is haunted. That's by way of knowing a prior resident. Seems that poltergeist liked to take things and move them where they couldn't be found and then amazingly in an unexpected location would oddly be returned. I have enough trouble keeping track of my car keys. To live there would be very troublesome for me.

Anyway, back to the potential for a good shaker between the Triple Junction, Mammoth and Parkfield north, seems not so far out after all.

Petra (with Don looking over my shoulder and correcting me as I've written.)
