Re: Preliminary evaluation of Peru far-field forecast

Hi Lowell,

Talk about a lot of homework! Keeping up with all of those quakes must take hours. I am really enjoying these reports and find it very interesting how this comes about.

I was telling Don there was a quake swarm in Rohnert Park a few years ago. It started with a 3.8 and there were either five or six quakes in the series. They occured all on one day and that was it. No other activity of any note happened until the same date as the Turkey quake on 9/22/99. I'm quite certain it would have been considered a far-field triggered quake as it happened within hours of the Turkey event.

Now this week we were witness to another quake swarm within the far-field affects of Peru. Seems this area has ties to more than one place on the globe. I am most curious now to see if we have another swarm that follows this latest large aftershock. That might occur within 2 weeks, or around July 21st - 25th.

Thanks for all of the record keeping, it is very much appreciated.

Petra
