Hi Lowell,
I think the far-field seismicity theory is very interesting. Does this seem to happen more in areas like New Madrid that are not on a plate boundary? By the wayI live, near Louisville, KY and just renewed my homeowner's policy yesterday morning and noticed the earthquake portion of my policy had gone up by about 30%. I'm not sure why, because it is my understanding the frequency and intensity of the New Madrid area quakes has not changed that much over the last few years. But I will still carry it (even though the Louisville area would not likely sustain a direct hit) just in case. Who knows why insurance companies raise their rates...
