Joseph and The Technicolor Dreamcoast/here to Hopland/So Hot, What About Tres Pinos

Hi All,

Don's been camped out at my place and this time I put him to work. He's had two jobs. A keep an eye on the earthquake front, and discuss possible theory of what's happening at Tres Pinos and he can do this theory discussion while he paints the exterior of my home. (not bad huh?)

Yesterday, we took a one hour ride up to Hopland to the land of promise(indian gaming casino) and on the way front and back we again checked out the geology of the area. There is this huge hill made of almost solid rock (we guess) and we can't decide if its a pluton, pillow lava or what? It stands about 500 feet high and there is nothing around it (except the freeway that runs next to it). When we approach it from the north its just straight up and down. So one day, when not on the way to Mecca, we'll have to stop, get off the freeway and see what its all about.

The other one that is puzzling as well is a mountain that has formed east of the prevailing ridge to the west and its very massive and has a sharp peak at the top and another shorter peak right along side of it. We can't quite figure out why its there, but it seems to have formed at a different time period than the ridge. Its quite stunning in appearance and lush green, whereas the ridges around it are now all brown except for the trees.

Now about Joseph. I made mention of the specter in black and I told Don one of the things I noticed immediately was that this specter had on a hat and a black suit and if it wasn't for being all black I would have sworn I had a visit from a Blues Brother. So, regarding news of a death, who died? Jack Lemon. One of my very favorite comedians. It fits perfectly, someone who is funny announcing the news that someone else who was funny was moving from here to there. Sad, but uncannily fitting.

I hope all of you have a wonderful Fourth of July. I've got the watermelon cooling in the fridge and as usual in CA, a barbeque later in the day is at hand.

PS. I'm afraid to send Don home tomorrow. The big one might arrive when he gets there or it could arrive here and then he'll have to come back right away. I do have a few things left on my list of to-do's. Ummm (I just looked over at Don and he's shaking his head in disbelief. I wonder if that's from the quake or the list?)
