BUT I also showed that New Moon WAS significant when it occurred within a certain number of days of lunar perigee.

Please note that on August 12, 2045, there will be a huge Total Solar Eclipse with a path from Northern California through Florida - covering a large portion of the USA. This eclipse will occur almost perfectly at the time when the moon is the closest to earth - perigee. It is also a very close perigee, 357,291km - closer than most. Thus we have a more-perfect alignment of earth-moon-sun over the US at the time when the moon's gravity would affect us most.

August is also the sun-earth perigee - summer.

Sun is close. Moon is close. At this time there will be a greater tide than normal. I don't know how often this sort of thing happens, but shouldn't we look at this more closely?
