A swarm of earthquakes is currently occurring in the Gustine, California
area. This has included a Ml 3.0 and 3.1 and a number of smaller shocks.
This is the first earthquake activity in Central California outside the Pinnacles
region of Ml>=3 since Feb. 23, 2001. Several earthquakes of Ml 3.1 and 3.0
have occurred in the Pinnacles area southwest of this location in the past
4 months.
This has been a very long drought for the Central California region in terms
of earthquakes of Ml>=3. It appears it is about to rain, though (the sprinkles
have already begun).
