I first learned programming using Punch cards - Fortran was the first class I took - then Cobol - then assembler - then Business Basic This was after being exposed to a Basic Four Mini Computer - one of the first mini computers on the market for businesses - where I was doing some volunteer work initially with a church I belonged to (1976) - the mailing list and subscription lists were kept on the guy's office computers - I later worked at the company - but would watch the programmer tinkering with the programs to make things simpler for data entry - I would look over his shoulder and could see the syntax errors - it all seemed pretty simple to me..
