Re: Moon stuff..for Roger |
Hi Canie, Can you tell us where you saw that Web site that was discussing sun, moon, and earthquake relationships? My own data indicate to me that there are at least two important links between the sun and the moon positions in the sky and occurrence times for earthquakes in the perhaps 6 and greater magnitude range. All of this information has been available at my Web sites for years. And quite a bit of additional information is scheduled to be stored there related to this subject as time permits. 1. The most important link involves what I refer to as the “Gravity Point.” It you draw a line between the center of the sun and the center of the Earth, the location where that line crosses the surface of the Earth is often informally referred to as the “Subsolar” location. And if you do that with the moon and the Earth it is called the “Sublunar” location. You can use certain math equations to combine the gravity strengths of the sun and the moon so that they look like they are a signal gravitational force for some imaginary object out there in space. And if you draw a line between the center of that imaginary object and the center of the Earth, then the place where that line crosses the surface of the Earth is what I refer to the “Gravity Point.” All of this has to do with the Tide Generating Force, the Solid Earth Tide, and even ocean tides. The best links that I can see between the sun and moon positions in the sky and earthquake occurrence times can be seen by looking at the location of the gravity point and comparing that with the times when earthquakes occur. It is actually a little more complicated than that. But that is a somewhat understandable explanation of what is taking place. 2. The second most important link involves the Sublunar location. My data are also indicating that if you look at the Sublunar location and compare it with earthquake occurrence times you can see a link there. However it is not as strong as the link with the Gravity Point. To understand how earthquakes are being triggered you need to look at both of those effects. One will be important for some earthquakes. And the other will be important for others. Other earthquakes do not appear to have any (as yet) clearly identifiable force that is triggering them. In contrast, the Subsolar location by itself does not appear to have a strong link with earthquake triggering times. My personal earthquake forecasting program relies on those effects for comparing EM Signal detection times and approaching earthquake locations. And it does produce some accurate data. All of this has been explained to earthquake researchers for years. But for some reason they simply don’t want to do the math that is needed in order to show that those relationships are real. I have some data related to this subject matter from another researcher that also demonstrates that there are links between the positions of celestial objects and earthquake occurrence times. But his research group did things the hard way. Instead of using my equations that make things simple, they loaded a tremendous amount of earthquake occurrence time data into their computers along with celestial objects position data and started grinding away on the data. They were able to show that there are relationships between the celestial objects’ locations and earthquake occurrence times. But their data were not as clear as mine. When time permits I am planning to store their data on my Web site. At the moment, my top earthquake related project involves circulating more information regarding that recent successful prediction for an earthquake in the Myanmar area. Finally, isn’t it nice for a change to be able to discuss these types of things on the EarthWaves board without a civil war getting started? Roger will of course insist that there are no links between the locations of the sun and the moon and earthquake occurrence times. But he also believes that solar and lunar eclipses are signs that the gods are angry with the Democrats, or the Republicans, or perhaps the Tea Party (humor intended). And it is safe to ignore him. These are personal opinions.
