The information in the above post is in my opinion absolutely accurate. However, I always add that these are personal opinions and will continue to do that.

Since Skywise appears to be getting ready to leave the board for the nth time there doesn’t appear to be any reason to pursue this any further.

Canie has not handed control of the bulletin board over to me or anyone else. She has certain rules. And there other rules regarding Internet etiquette that people should, in my opinion, be following. I say within the rules. Other people don’t. Or they don’t like the rules. And they eventually leave.

As I have said many times in the past, my personal goal here is not to propose that this or that theory regarding earthquakes or earthquake forecasting is the gospel truth and other theories are not. The goal is to eventually save some lives. And whatever will accomplish that is fine with me as long as it is legal etc.

There are people who believe that all earthquake related lifesaving efforts should be focused on building construction. I am totally in support of efforts to get more earthquake resistant buildings constructed and am saddened that stronger efforts are not being made internationally along those lines. But the truth is that no matter how much time and money is put into such efforts, they won’t do any good for people in many locations such as impoverished areas where governments can be highly corrupt and where adequate building materials are not available.

In those cases, the only way to save lives would be to accurately forecast an earthquake and try to get people out of its way.

These are personal opinions.
