Katrina is an even better, if not case book example. I remember watching one of those shows you find on cable channels like Discovery or History talking about potential disasters. One of the scenarios was a direct hit on New Orleans by a Cat 5 hurricane. It was portrayed exactly like happened in Katrina.

Oh, that show was probably at least 5 years BEFORE Katrina.

I realize not everyone can stockpile food and other supplies. It costs money. I've tried to get my supplies together but sometimes you just can't do it. But we can all educate ourselves and at least be mentally prepared. Even if you don't have but a few days supplies as that's what happens to be in your kitchen, knowledge will help you survive better.

Heck, MacGyver could fix a car with chewing gum and a pocket knife!!!

Eheheheh, that reminds me. I once patched a hole in a radiator hose with a bicycle inner tube and an old wiper blade to tie it all on. Got me to my destination and then back home again, about 40 miles or so. This happened on Christmas so NOTHING was open.

But the sad thing is there are people who will refuse to do what is necessary even if you offered to give it to them for free. Darwin award candidates.
