Okinawa: what are the odds?

What are the odds that the eyes of two major typhoons would pass over a relatively small island in less than a 2 month period? And that in between those, there was a third one that also was close to Okinawa. Former super-typhoon Jelawat is not even coming from the same direction as the others. Link gives its current location at the southwest tip of the island.

Kind of like Florida in 2004 (?).

I'm in a hotel on the coast of a long Aegean Sea Bay, in Izmir, Turkey. Meeting this week: I'm giving 2 talks on the North Anatolian fault system, and also working with students, professors, at a University here.

Today (Saturday) I will work with a student on a stratigraphic age model for last 130,000 years offshore of Istanbul.
