What are the odds that the eyes of two major typhoons would pass over a relatively small island in less than a 2 month period? And that in between those, there was a third one that also was close to Okinawa. Former super-typhoon Jelawat is not even coming from the same direction as the others. I'm in a hotel on the coast of a long Aegean Sea Bay, in Izmir, Turkey. Meeting this week: I'm giving 2 talks on the North Anatolian fault system, and also working with students, professors, at a University here.

Today (Saturday) I will work with a student on a stratigraphic age model for last 130,000 years offshore of Istanbul.
