Bay Area Data

Hi All. The creep for the most part for the Bay Area has slowed somewhat. With the exception of two data sites the traces are flat.

As of right now there is no indication of a strain build up, but there has been a change in the strain at some of the data sites never the less. The traces are starting to flatten out at some of the data sites. Not sure as to what that may mean.

There has also been a slight increase in microquakes in the surrounding area most particularly along the coast.

There was also a microquake on the Rodgers Creek fault. This is most likely an aftershock of the 4.20 ML on 09/22/1999 in the area of Rohnert Park.

Incidentally I did find 4 earthquakes further south of Rohnert Park on the Rodgers Creek fault. They occurred on Dec. of 1981. The first was on the 18th and was a 3.1Ml. The other 3 occurred on the 20th and were 3.2Ml, 2.6Ml and 2.8Ml. They were about 1.5 miles north of Petaluma and about 1 mile north of where Petra lives.

It has been reported in the past that there is no creep in the section of the fault from Rohnert Park south to San Pablo Bay. If that portion of the fault is locked tight this may account for why cracks are being found in some of the homes just west of the fault. Take Care…Don in creepy town
