Afghanistan Earthquake – September 26, 2012

This looks like it might have been the earthquake that I was expecting. It occurred exactly when and where I thought it would occur. No damage has been reported so far.

On Friday, September 21, 2012, U.S. government officials (not the USGS) were sent an informal warning to watch that area. And they were sent a formal warning very early on September 24, 2012.

I specially told people that they needed to watch the areas where the following earthquakes had occurred:

1998/05/30 06:22:28 37.21N 69.93E 33 6.9 Afghanistan
1998/02/04 14:33:21 37.07N 70.07E 33 6.1 Afghanistan

The magnitude of that September 25, 2012 earthquake was a lot lower than I thought possible. But there might be two possible reasons for that.

1. Earthquakes in that area appear to be especially good at generating the EM Signals that I work with. That might have something to do with the characteristics of the fault zones in the area. For example, they might run at just the right angle for maximum interaction with solar storm energy. Or they might be especially good conductors for the types of geomagnetic energy involved. It is a mountain area from what I understand. And the fault zones might contain a lot of iron.

2. There was a strong solar storm almost directly over the earthquake fault zone at the time that the EM Signals were detected on September 20, 2012. And so its energy might have been directed almost straight at the fault zone or perhaps at just the right angle.

Comments:

One of the main reasons I was being so careful with not saying anything about that location in Afghanistan is because the U.S. has a strong military presence in that country. And I was expecting that that fact could complicate matters. That unusually high level of caution paid off. No one other than certain key U.S. government personnel knew about that location. I would not even let USGS personnel know about it.

People who looked at the forecast chart I stored on my Web site around September 21, 2012 would have seen that there were strong line peaks going back in time at 70 E. And I stated in one of my earlier posts that the location I was watching was appearing on those charts.

Another report with more information and some charts might eventually be posted here.

Sun and moon location computer code developed by Roger years ago are invaluable to this type of work. But I don’t even want to think about how long it took me to translate his TrueBasic sun and moon location code to the Perl language code I presently use. It was a nightmare! Simple math statements such as arctan work differently with the two programs.

Finally,

I hope that this was the earthquake that I was expecting. It is frightening to think that another even more powerful one might occur in the area. And the recent one might have just been a foreshock.

These are personal opinions.
