Re: Earthquakes In The Time Of Aristotle

Several years ago I received a book from an Indian translator interested in earthquakes.
The book "Seminar on Indian Traditional Water Science" has a chapter on traditional
beliefs on the generation of earthquakes.
Briefly the ancient Indians believed earthquakes were caused by several phenomena:
Underground movements of water; tides, and activity of the sun. These ideas
originated more than 3,000 years ago, and some sound quite modern. The original
book was a Sanskrit text.
Seems in this regard they were ahead of Aristotle in their observations of the
natural world.
