"And tides ARE too small to trigger earthquakes MUCH, more than a very tiny fraction of the time. Check out my Science paper with Cochran, and in addition, I compared the entire Harvard catalog of earthquakes with a more sophisticated tidal calculation than is generally available, which I didn't publish because everyone knows already that tidal influence is tiny." Dear John, I read your paper (Kennedy et al.) about the tidal triggering of earthquakes and I made the same test for the population. I found that most of the people are hermaphrodites. You mixed pears and apples together. We made better tests (depending on tidal phase in 3-D tidal space) and we found that there are 2 kinds of earthquakes, which are triggered by 2 various tidal mechanisms. The significance level of this statement is better than 99%. Read our book. Follow Ups: ● Re: confusing - Skywise 09:30:01 - 8/23/2012 (80181) (0) |
