Look at rhe streams crossing the fault on Brian's map view. Big right offsets at the fault. I recall that after the 1989 Whittier thrust quake, there were papers saying the Whittier fault was thrust, and I saw a talk by Tom Rockwell showing the stream offsets and aso his 3D trenching that proved the fault was right-lateral strike-slip. Tom tends to get things right (although we disagree with him about the Santa Rosa Island fault). I just told someone yesterday that Tom tends to get things right.
