O/T: sailed to Moonrise Kindom

Off Topic,
I sailed the little sailboat today with HW and a friend to Moonrise Kingdom, from the movie of the same name. This is a 15 foot sailboat that has been in our family since 1963: it was probably one of the first fiberglass boats built, and it is bullet-proof. It spent the night on the same rocks (Granite)at the same park that Moonrise Kingdom is part of being lifted and dropped by kind of large waves, and when it was dragged off the rocks the next day it was undamaged. It has no motor and there can be a 2 knot tide, so you have to pay attention to the tide and the wind, or you might find yourself out to sea for the night.

It was a bit windy and we were a bit oversailed coming into the deep narrow cover that is Moonrise Kingdom in the movie; we should have reefed but I was too lazy. After 49 years of sailing this same boat I don't think I had ever sailed into this cove. My grandfather knew every rock in the area, usually by hitting them with larger boats. We did not discover any new rocks today.

That was one of my mother's stories from a similar boat, presumably when she was a teenager. She was swept out to sea with the tide on a small boat and came in the next morning when the tide changed and the wind came up. No one knew she was missing.
