Roger, It would be a total waste of time for me to try to work with any but a relatively few geology specialists in getting the science of earthquake forecasting moving forward. As I said in other posts, classically trained scientists often won’t do anything until they have absolute certainty. And that might not exist for many years in this field of science. It is better to work with disaster mitigation personnel. And it could be that I am having some success with that. I just saw an announcement that QuakeFinder is getting a three year earthquake forecasting research contract with NASA. As a formal commercial entity they are probably doing the closest thing to the type of work that I myself am doing. They and I are working with electromagnetic energy field signals. However, in the past theirs have I believe been largely limited to signals detected near fault zones. But it now appears that they are starting to do more global work by monitoring signals being detected by satellites. So, even the very, very limited amounts of pressure I have been putting on U.S. Policy Makers to get more earthquake research done might be having some success. And remember, the U.S. is apparently cutting back on funding for just about everything. And for the energy department to get an increase, and now this group getting a grant, it is significant. So, in contrast to what you might believe, my opinions expressed to U.S. Policy Makers are at times taken very seriously. Obviously, regarding the impact that my comment are having in this bulletin board, forget it! But that doesn’t matter. These are largely intended to be progress reports. These are personal opinions.
