Hi Beth, what is "FB"? Yes, Penny, cool picture of Popo. Beth, I forget, are you a teacher? You used to do some good posts; we have needed more people doing good posts for years and years. Science education and outreach are of interest. I was at UCSB until a week ago and got up to date on my computer accounts so I could start linking to graphics and make my posts more informative, but this takes more time.

Outreach is considered important by the National Science Foundation, so that the "public" is interested in supporting science. Or, just so that we get a better-informed public to compete with the rest of the world (and maybe well enough informed to better choose their politicians.
