There was a M6.2 in Papua New Guinea followed 6 minutes 30 s by a M7.4 in Oaxaca Mexico. If I just calculatd this correctly, it would take about 30 mins for the P wave to get there if it was traveling along the top of the mantle. It would actually dive deeper so less distance and a little faster, but the P wave from the M6.2 would not have arrived at the site of the M7.4 in time.

One of the nodal planes of the M7.2 is consistent with thrust-subduction.
