Amit Dave’s Forecast Data Chart – Posted by EQF on March 19, 2012

The chart below was generated by Roger’s and my Earthquake Precursor Data Display computer programs. I did some spot checks and it appears that Amit Dave’s data are displayed properly on the chart. In any case, this is the best that we can do at the moment.

The yellow lines are dates where Amit Dave was expecting an earthquake to occur. His exact dates and the magnitudes of the earthquakes expected on those dates are on the left side.

The red dots or circles are earthquakes having magnitudes greater than 6 that occurred during the Time Window shown on the right side of the chart. The size of the dot indicates the magnitude of the earthquake. Larger means higher magnitude.

OBJECTIVES WITH THIS PROGRAMMING EFFORT

Roger is free to explain what his objectives might be with his work on this project. However, it is my own understanding that his main objective is to use his retirement time from his computer programming career to work on interesting projects.

My own objectives are to try to move the science of earthquake forecasting forward by creating computer programs that enable people around the world to collect, exchange, and compare earthquake precursor data and other types of data related to earthquakes and volcanoes etc.

As far as interpreting Amit Dave’s data I will say again what I have said in the past.

At the present time, each earthquake forecaster is in my opinion responsible for generating his or her own forecast data, evaluating them, and making them available to other earthquake researchers around the world. So, as far as I am concerned, Amit Dave is on his own with regard to using those data to better understand his own forecasts, improve his methodology, and make his forecast data available to other people.

As I said, my personal efforts involve just trying to help make it possible for people to do those types of things. I am not attempting to evaluate Amit Dave’s forecast data for accuracy or usefulness.

These are personal opinions.
