The first complete version of this program is now fully operational. And a downloadable version of it will likely be stored on my Web site some time later today or tomorrow.

It took a while to get all of the main data input and processing routines running in all of the computer programs that are involved. And then some timing issues had to be dealt with so that the various programs got started or ended at the right times relative to one another.

Now that the basic programs structure is set efforts will move to developing the programs so that they duplicate what an actual Web site earthquake precursor data collection, evaluation, and display CGI program might look like when it is running.

The present program displays a world map, a tectonic plates map, earthquakes that can be selected by date and magnitude ranges, and volcanos.

Decisions are now being made regarding what the earthquake precursor data input screen might look like, what types of data should be collected, and how they might be displayed on the world map.

It is somewhat amazing that this effort got started back around 1996 when I stored a demonstration version of the program on one of my Web sites. And in spite of how important it is for governments to develop effective earthquake forecasting programs, during all of these years none, no governments or independent groups that I know of have ever developed this type of data collection resource.

The governments of the People’s Republic of China and one or two other countries are reportedly already running programs that collect and evaluate their local earthquake precursor data. But those data are not then available for viewing by the public.
