Hi Don,

You always seem to find something thought provoking and a topic that has much potential. It makes perfect sense to me because the energy that may trigger other quakes is very much like a wake a boat makes and how it affects other vessels in the vicinity. If one's bow is pointed toward the wake, then the movement isn't so bad, but if one were sideways, depending on the size of the wake, then that could mean certain troubles.

Another good analogy I suppose would be in observing what happens when a large tsunami is generated. Its how it makes landfall that determines how much damage it generates. So, like always, you never mention a word to me until you have it figured out and I end up reading it here before you say a word to me. You're almost always right as well, which as you know, I find irritating at times.

Now off of this topic, did you see that quake near Dawson in the NW Territories? While it was .5 off, it was on my list of possibilities I posted on 5/22. One day, I may end up getting something right in all of the departments and it could get really interesting at that time. I wonder how many more years its going to perfect this thing? Oh well, never a dull moment.

I would still like to know why geysers and water wells change behavior before earthquakes. Where is the water going? Why would it leave an area before an earthquake? Seems so strange and yet, it does happen frequently. Got any ideas about this? Does a giant hole in the area open up and all the water disappears and goes into this hole? Or is the fault in the area opening down below before it actually generates a quake and the water goes down into the fault? To many questions, some answers, but is it always for the same reason? Ummm

Petra
