Brian, you will want to check this, but I'm pretty sure you are not correct about saying/implying that moon is above equator. The earth's axis as you know is tilted about 23 deg. The moon is, I think close to the plane of the solar system, not the plane of the equator. I think this is called the plane of the ecliptic. I recall from way way back that it is a bit off the plane of the ecliptic...in the single digits of degrees. That is why the moon is usually not quite in the same arc as the planets. The full moon is opposite the sun, so is high in the sky at mid latitudes in the winter and low in the summer.

so, I would not call the orbit chaotic, although it does change shape somewhat.

If you check this out, post what the answer is.
