Hurricane Kenneth is the latest major hurricane in the Eastern Pacific since the start of satellite monitoring of them. It is also the latest tropical storm since a hurricane in 1983. It is 125 mph (110 knots) this morning and still rapidly intensifying, and forecast to get to 140 mph, which is category 4 out of 5.

My opinion, not science, is that this has nothing to do with climate change. The water is not especially warm under the storm and the waters over the Eastern Pacific this summer were cooler than normal I recall reading.
