The Buddha and Steve Jobs

Good morning all. Not so normal when the weather is perfect in heartland (and has been for weeks, and is forecast to be for at least another week) in a week where California has rain: plus fall colors are really nice. The main problem is that my shallow ponds that I use for skating on thin ice are dry.

OK: I received an email where the signature was a quote from The Buddha:
"Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your books. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and conductive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."
The Buddha.

This seems applicable to American politics, as well as things like Climate Change, Chemtrails, etc.

Also, I have been watching the news which is full of quotes from Steve Jobs. These are not sticking with me, but there is a fair amount about taking risk.

I'm afraid that I am adverse to taking a lot of risk: if I had maybe I would have started a business and now been either rich or bankrupt. I do have a mindset where I don't believe something written in my field just because it has been published. That has lead to some papers that have taken 5 years before the appear in print. Some part of that may be problems in writing (although I was not the lead author on one of them), but some comes because I/we are going against what has been published.

Maybe someone could post some science-innovation Steve Jobs quotes.

Chris
