The spetacle effect also causes us to look at a particular item without regard to
those things around it and to take it out of context. Each prediction or warning
here could be argued by the predictor to be an indicator of the earthquake in
Washington state. Bob Shannon who ought to know about such things saw right
through this to the core of the matter - none of these would have helped, even
taken together, in accurately predicting the Washington earthquake.

Another piece of bait was my posting regarding the Texas/Louisiana flooding
being a precursor to an earthquake in Seattle. While the original note was sent
before the earthquake, the follow-up was sent after. This type of post-diction is
typical of some predictors, and quite dishonest.

In other words, read carefully what is posted with an open but skeptical mind.
Games can be played by predictors and non-predictors alike.

And now, would you like an apple with some poison in it?
