Chris gets a manuscript accepted |
Hi all, I got my first manuscript accepted as first author since 2007, pending very minor revisions. It is on the North Anatolian Fault near Istanbul and the journal is Tectonophysics. Tectonophysics is considered by some (including where I work) as less prestigious than some other Journals, but HW and I like many of the article in it, Turkish and other European scientists read it, and I don't care; I just want it out. It's main conclusions are that, despite papers by famous people and even Gods of Plate Tectonics that state otherwise, this Main Marmara Fault near Istanbul shows no evidence for significant changes in slip for at least the last half million years. There are some papers that suggest that large displacement faults like the San Andreas Fault are capable of larger quakes than those with just a few km of slip (like many in southern California). Now I have to get my rejected manuscript on Palos Verdes resubmitted and write a couple of others.
