Earthquake Forecasting Internet Server Question – August 5, 2011 |
Earthquake Forecasting Internet Server Question – August 5, 2011 Question: Would anyone like to recommend a particular Web server for the following? A tentative agreement has been reached with ISEP personnel regarding the creation of what might be referred to as a Web site extension for the present ISEP Web site. The proposed new Web site would make it possible to have multiple parties, especially expert computer programmers and Web site development experts, work together in developing earthquake forecasting technologies and doing earthquake research in general. One of the first steps in that effort involves selecting a domain name for the new Web site. And I have already submitted one possible name for ISEP personnel to consider. Another early step is choosing a commercial Web server that would serve as the host for that domain name and the new Web site. Two servers that look attractive are: Squarespace has some extraordinary Web site development resources. And with that Web server development efforts would undoubtedly move along a lot faster. But it would cost almost three times as much to get the same bandwidth and Web page storage space resources as BlueHost. Any comment on either of those two servers? Any suggestions for other Web servers that should be considered? If no convincing arguments are made for choosing some other Web server then BlueHost will probably be selected. Canie's EarthWaves board will likely remain one of the primary conversational note type posting boards for earthquake related subjects.
