Earthwaves is a very useful forum. Like minded individuals (even if
there are disagreements) can get together and discuss matters that
are important or interesting to them. The group is much more focused
on a specific suject, yet off topic posts are tolerated within reason.
Many people have been here so long and got to know each other so
well you could call it a group of friends, in so far as people who
only know each other via patterns of electrons can be friends.

Due to the requirement for confirmed registration, it is very unlikely
for trolls or other mischievous activity to occur. This is a major
benefit. Even though I no longer post (either by choice or deletion of
account) I still read the group on a daily basis due to the generally
much higher quality of discussion than on most forums.

The reasons behind my self imposed exile I believe are misunderstood.
It has nothing to do with 'bad words'. I am still willing to discuss
the issue with Canie and make amends with her and the group for my
behavior, but it seems the lines of communication have been closed.
