Columbia MO to run out of luck? |
OK, part of my cover is blown. I live in Columbia Missouri, in the center, half way between Kansas City and St Louis. We have been here 4 3/4 years: no tornadoes within city limits. I suspect we will run out of luck in the next 24 hours, although the worst weather should be somewhat south of us. A severe weather outbreak is forecast for tomorrow. Unlike my reaction to the St Louis airport tornado (ignored the warning), or the severe weather outbreak Sunday (took 2 Turkish grad students down the Missouri River in canoe), today I told them what to do in case of tornado. We have consistently kept our NOAA wetaher radio on alarm since we moved here from suburbia: it wakes us up constantly for things we don'r care about like floods (we are on a ridge) of severe thunderstorms in other counties. I only want to be woken up for tornadoes.
