Hi all;

As a first attempt to test EQF's peaks I sorted all the major quakes in the NEIC catalog into 5 degree longitude cells and plotted the numbers.

To my surprise, the graph does not resemble the distribution of quakes on his graph. He shows very few quakes on the left side and a large number in the 100E to 180E area.

My graph shows high numbers near 180W and 0E with low numbers for the rest.

Does this mean he's onto something?

Nah, it's just a small sample artifact. His plot involves 4 months. Mine covered 37 years.
