Two thumbs up from me in your effort to learn about the stability of the dam. I would think most posters on this board know about the collapse of the Van Norman Dam from an earthquake. For the residents of the flooded area they had to move out immediately and came home to find much damage in some cases and very little in others. The odd thing was that they lived up in the hills near the dam, not some place down below as one often would imagine.

While most people don't think about dams collapsing, the danger they present is ominous and far more damaging than an earthquake.
