In my field, a lot of what is published is just simply wrong. A lot it is realy jink. Of course, that is comparing these publications to my own work, which of course is always 100% correct. The same goes with medicine, and I could wade into my own examples. About a decade ago, when I lived in Suburbia and read the New York Times instead of "Heartland daily", the New York Time magazine had an article on the cover about how half of what doctors believe is wrong, and they don't know which half.

On the other hand, I do not want to encourage those who want to post their own alternative to plate tectonics or the origin of the moon. If you have such a hypothesis, take my word for it, your hypothesis is wrong.
