I agree, Chris.

There have been many 'discussions' that I've been in the past in other forums that just got nowhere. At some point in the banter I would make the realization that the other party was using the same words as I, but with entirely different meanings. When I'd point that out, I'd usually get a bunch of ad hominems for the effort. It's true some people can't stand being told they're wrong, and when you tell them not only they are wrong, but they are saying it wrong to boot... well, I guess that's just a double whammy!!

But your point on the use of the terms 'theory' and 'hypothesis' are something we ALL need to address. I have no end of arguments because the general populous has the misunderstanding that a scientific theory is only a wild arsed guess. A specific example, "Well, the theory of evolution is ONLY a theory, not fact."

Oh, and Chris, you need to keep a list of all these projects you're piling up on me!!! hehehehe :)
