Hi Chris - I'm here. I'm actually headed to Phoenix today.

I understand Southern California is to be hit by what ever radiation cloud is coming from Japan this afternoon. I have Iodide tablets (56 of them!) - I suppose I could make a ton of money on EBay! We have them due to San Onofre being close.

I just can't imagine the devastation - those poor people - Then are a very determined folk and I'm sure everything will be alright in the end, but it's certainly a blow - I can't imagine anything worse.

As for why there can't be a quake of that magnitude here, is quake size is dependent on the length of the fault - the longest is the San Andreas and it just isn't long enough for a 9 - thankfully -

We can have Tsunamis south of Mendocino - This is probably the real hidden threat. We also may not have more than 10 minutes warning if some fault off the coast decides to give way or if there's an underwater landslide. You've studied offshore -

On the subject of payment.. I think the costs of this are about $9 a year for the domain and some portion of $100 or so to host 6 or so domains for a year. So really no cost to having the site here.

I do appreciate the posts - I have snuck in here to see what's going on and things seem quite active.
