The one I posted is tough. I'll probably end up giving clues in a few days. Some games get solved in hours, others have taken weeks.

Usually it's a location where you recognize the geology and then try to remember where you know that kind of geology can be found.

Some clues are:

Shadows will tell you northern or southern hemisphere. Although in this picture I rotated it from north being up and hid the compass.

Color quality of image. Not all imagery in Google Earth is color corrected. This would be more noticeable on images that have a wider field of view.

Copyright info can also help you know where something is because some imagery sources only cover specific areas. I blurred it out in mine because it would be too big a clue.

If you want to look at some recent competitions, go to this site which has links to the blogs that hosted them. Look at the pics and try for a while, then read the comments to see what the answer was.

I like playing because it's challenging and I learn. The one I just won I didn't know what it was. I had to go scouring the internet to figure out what was special about it.
