1896 tsunami: 27,000 dead.

The link is to the tsunami history of the east coast of Honshu. The link says 27,000 killed in 1896. It would be very interesting to compare the earthquake magnitude and tsunami runup in that one to what just happened. I posted below is that the Japan nuclear plants should have been designed for what happened.

I know I heard about a deadly tsunami far longer ago. I'll look for it a bit longer.
