It could be that the solar wind (charged particles) effected the onboard clock...thus erroneously time stamping a position with the wrong time.

If the chassis voltage drifts and charges are moving around the chassis ...then the clock is usually the first to go...(based on some junk timepieces that I have bought...)

Otherwise...we should also see planetary disturbances ...which they have said they have not seen.

Well...your "little brain" has been scoring some interesting hits recently...so maybe you are being hasty in selling yourself short...
