at this web site, check out the vertical acceleration at the GNS Station PRPC, the red dot in town.

It's more than 1.6g peak, and about 5s of 1g bounces, with the up peaks higher than the down peaks, as one can only accelerate downward at the rate of gravity.

I have to wonder if they placed the instrument properly.
