UPDATE January 30, 2011 |
This is rather amazing to me! With some extremely helpful information sent to me by one of the Perl Newsgroup readers I was able to get a Web server program running on my Windows Vista PC with just a few hours of work. And if I actually had any idea of what I was doing it might have been done in a half hour, about the amount of time it took to download and install the Web server program. This is the URL for that program. What this means is that my new bulletin board program is now up and running on one of my Web sites and also up and running on my home computer. And that should dramatically accelerate program development efforts. I already know how to do Perl programming and have an actual Perl expert who has volunteered to help with the more complex code. Considering how much time and effort it has required to get my Perl programs running over the years it is amazing to me that this effort got completed so quickly and with so little time and energy. So, in my opinion, these research efforts are really starting to get moving along with increasing speed. |
