Hi Dennis, thanks, interesting. But, some of us are trained to be skeptical, and the news article you linked to sounds over-stated. The main thing for me is questioning whether an experiment like that can be scaled up orders of magnitude to the real world, and whether real faults surfaces are enough like what they used, and whether fluids, temperature and pressure were correctly considered. If I wanted to know badly enough I would download the published article and read it, but have to work on other things (I have to read papers on Turkey for example).

So, I think John Vidale would have useful things to say on this.
