Petionville Ridge amplification

Canie, OK, I read the link; interesting. But, I need to download the article (I have library access) and look at figures. Right after the quake there was a link to a post-quake 50 cm resolution satellite image as a Google earth layer, through CNN (I linked to it from Earthwaves at the time, I think). I could see no sign of building collapses along the projection of the fault scarp (from the west) near Petionville. Also, one of the Haitians on our research cruise in Fenruary-March lives in Petionville and said there was little damage. Maybe the ridge is a bit to the north of where she lives and where I was looking.

There were very high ground accelerations just south of the Santa Monica Mountains along the north edge of Los Angeles basin; near the Santa Monica fault, I assume. This was amplification due to the geometry of the basin edge.
