Todd, could go over M7. Dolan, Rockwell and a few others trenched San Cayetano and found an earthquake, which I recall had 5 m of slip (maybe was 3), and this was 17th century or later. The proposed that it was the second 1812 earthquake, the one previously supposed to be in Santa Barbara Channel. I saw the trench when open. The slip rate on San Cayetano, Oak Ridge, and Red Mountain faults in that area is rather high, as is the GPS rate of closing of Ventura basin.

The San Cayetano steps over(left) to the Red Mountain, which near the coast starts stepping over partly to the Pitas Point-North Channel faults, which then are going strong to and beyond the UCSB campus. I have not mapped in the NW Santa Barbara Channel, but the fold-thrust system continues all the way to Pt. Conception. The slip rates drop towards the west.
