Hi Canie: Yes...it is problematic. Perhaps re-orienting your head at first receipt of the tone maybe the only quick thing you can test in order to check for a directional resonance effect being operative ...perhaps. Regarding the standing on the chair...any non-electrically conducting insulating material would work...even a dry wood chair. It seems that if people hear these tones while inside buildings then a ground wave phenomena doesn't seem likely at all (though you may wish to test it out anyway...if you ever get the chance). ( I suppose jumping in the air might work to interrupt such a tone induced by such a very low ground wave voltage /effect...who knows?) If anybody asks...just tell them you are auditioning for a car commercial or something...:) Yes...people at work will no doubt give you some strange looks (with the pot and cookie sheet)...especially when you go on and start talking about "saving lives" type of research, etc. They will surely think you have lost it...unless of course they are open minded and somewhat research oriented. Regarding the ULF set-up...I think there's no getting around the long antenna. The next bet is to go to www.elfrad.com and locate the nearest detecting rig closest to your location. Upon hearing a tone go and check that web-site to see if they did not also detect activity around the same time. One other idea is using a cheap AM pocket radio. Tune it to static and listen for disruption in it around the times you are hearing tones. This could also be significant if it is repeatable...but we will not know unless we take some data first.... Back to the ULF antenna...perhaps an undeground water pipe could act as an antenna. To find out you would have to attach a pre-amp, low pass filter, and A/D Converter/sampler to find out. The same hardware/SW is used as in the ULF rig but skipping the part about digging long trenches to bury the wire/antenna. If you are interested I think I have some marketing literature on cheap HW you can buy to set this up on your computer...it's cheap because the sample rate can be very low for ULF.... Having a tone of fun, mark
