I think that a quake within the radius that is the length of the fault (did you get all that? I got it from Lucy Jones today.) is considered an aftershock? She was using a fifty mile estimate for "aftershocks" as opposed to quakes that might be triggered at some distance. My own personal feeling is that quakes stress the ground and cause other quakes---and don't much care what we call them. Stay safe, everybody!
