Hi Jen. I have been keeping a log of Petra’s ear tones for a couple of months now. There isn’t much useful data in it at present, as we haven’t been keeping a log that long.

However we have been keeping it long enough to know that she has Markleeville and the surrounding area pretty much imbedded in her mind.

She gives me the time that she heard the tone, the type of tone she heard. This is the hard part, as she has to find a description of a sound that I can understand. She tells me how long it lasted and whether it is low, high, soft, loud, etc.

She then tells me which ear she heard the tone in. This gives the general direction. She then gives me her impression and where she thinks it’s coming from. She doesn’t do this each and every time.

Were almost sure she heard the tone for the Washington quake. It was unlike any other tone she has ever heard. It started like most other tones, but as it continued it started spreading out as if it were a fan. All of the other tones she hears give her the impression they are on a wire, or a track. Some are crystal clear, others might be a little distorted while others may sound muffled.

The main reason for the log is so we can compile the information about the tone itself so when she hears it again we have a previous description of it. By doing it this way she learns what tones are where and to some extent how large the quake could be. It’s not a perfect system, but it works for now. Take Care…Don in creepy town.
