Taiwan Earthquake Prediction Success December 19, 2009

The following mildly destructive earthquake just occurred. It does not sound like there were any fatalities.

As you can see in the chart below, there are strong Time Window Peaks that just recently appeared at around 122 E longitude on the Chart. Peaks like that can serve as indicators that seismic activity is approaching for that area. And that is exactly what happened.

These charts are intended to let people know when they should start checking some area for earthquake precursors. And in that capacity this forecasting program just demonstrated that it is doing exactly what it is meant to do. Had researchers in Taiwan been watching for and been able to detect any earthquake precursors in that area then they might have been able to confirm that the earthquake was on the way.

So, this might be regarded as the forecasting program’s first clear and significant success.
