This relatively simple research effort appears to have been a huge success! 366 deadly earthquakes that occurred since the beginning of 1990 were examined. Starting with 1990, with each successive year, greater and greater percentages of that year’s deadly earthquakes occurred within plus or minus 1 longitude degree of where an earlier deadly earthquake had occurred. By the year 2000 almost all of the deadly earthquakes that occurred were preceded by another deadly one at that longitude. So, this means that one of the basic assumptions that my earthquake forecasting computer program relies on is valid. Some type of chart might be generated regarding this study and then stored at my Web site. As I have said quite often in the past, an effort that contributed to the development of this bulletin board involved creating a resource where these types of relatively simple research studies could be discussed in a somewhat protected environment. And this present study represents a successful example of that. These are personal opinions.
