Mexican Earthquake last night (Ms 6.3)

A moderate earthquake with Ms 6.1(GSSC), Ml 6.5 (SSN) Ms 6.32(NEIC) occurred off the coast of the Mexican state of Jalisco or Colima on May 19 (May 20 UT). This is the largest eathquake in western Mexico since August 9, 2000 when a Ms 6.5 occurred SE of this location. There have been 125 earhquakes in Mexico between 110W and 100W since 1-1-1900, an average of about 1.25 per year. This is the largest event in the region of it's epicenter since an earthquake of Ms 6.4 occurred nearby on Dec. 12, 1995. That earthquake did little damage to local structures.
